Knowing the dark evenings were closing in, we grabbed the opportunity to head for the Phoenix Park on a particularly sunny evening in October. That is rutting season for the deer. We were not disappointed, the sun and the herd put on a spectacular show. If you haven't heard the call of a male deer right before he begins to rut with another you might be surprised just how loud they are. There is a tense atmosphere in the air and as you watch them clashing antlers from a distance, you find yourself thinking you do not want to get in their way!
